Day 6: God our Instructor
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you. Psalms 32:8-9
Yesterday we talked about God being our guide, He is our guide and he will lead us in the paths we are to go. But he also wants to teach us. He wants to instruct us in His ways so that we can move through life with willing hearts. The analogy in this scripture is one that we have all found ourselves at one time or another. Where God’s direction is one we fight hard against. We dig our heels in, pull against, disagree with. We fight and fight, but once we give in we find that His way was always the best way. These moments will happen, but God also wants to be our instructor so that we don’t fight what God is doing but we can embrace it and run into it. Where we see His guiding with eyes of faith. What might God be calling you to today, that you are fighting? Can you allow Him to instruct you and teach you in the ways you should go? Doing the hard work that prepares us for a great work.
Lord, I know that I can oftentimes fight against what you have for me. Choosing to look to what I want, and not what your will is for my life. Today I pray that you would be my instructor, teaching me to lean into what you have for me. Seeing things from your perspective and being quicker to trust you in all situations. Thank you that your ways are perfect and your lessons are not just for today but are preparing me for what you have in store for me.
