Day 5: God our Guide
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
One of the biggest challenges we face is the ability to trust God with the direction we take in life. Most of us don’t fail to follow God’s ways because we decide we know better, we just lose our way in the middle of the chaos that life brings. Our brain and feelings tell us one thing, and we move. We don’t pause and submit it to God. It’s not always intentional, it’s habitual. We think we know, and so we move. There is this quote from Dr Rollo May, that say “It is an ironic habit of human beings to run faster when we have lost our way.” We may not believe we have lost our way, but for many we aren’t sure where our life is going and so instead of pausing and submitting to God we just move faster and faster, going from decision to decision. Relying on our hearts and minds to guide us. Instead of speeding up, instead lets take some time to slow down. It doesn’t mean we can’t still make decisions quickly, but we slow down our process to include submitting it to God first so HE can be our Guide.
Lord, today I pray that Proverbs 3 would become a part of my life. That I would learn to submit my ways to you, learning to trust in your devine plan for my life. Help me to learn what it means to follow your ways and not my ways, to be patient with your process. Thank you for being my guide and for having a perfect plan for me.
