Day 28: One Part of a Big Thing
Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many. 1 Corinthians 12:12-14
We all have a role to play in the body of Christ. Just like our body with its many parts–limbs, organs, and cells–is still one body, though we all have a different role to play, we are still one body of Christ. Through the Holy Spirit, we are no longer just living individual lives on our own. Before salvation, we made our own decisions and called our own shots. However, when we received Jesus, we yielded to the Lord and gave him the final say over our decisions. Whatever label you used to identify with is no longer definitive, as a member of the body of Christ, you are now apart of something so much bigger than yourself.
Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray that you would use me mightily in the body of Christ. I thank you that I will play the role that you have called me to play. I thank you that people will receive salvation because I yielded to become apart of the body. I pray that you would use me to change lives for the better. Amen.
