Day 13: He Gives you the Desires of Your Heart
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4
In this Psalm, David describes the effects of delighting ourselves in the Lord. When we delight ourselves in the Lord, we end up receiving our heart’s desire. How do we delight ourselves in the Lord? We delight ourselves in the Lord when we find peace and fulfillment in Him, by doing what pleases Him, and by meditating on His word. This may be demonstrated through worshiping God. This is why worship during a church service is so important. Worship is not just something that we do to fill time until the pastor comes to preach their sermon. It is an action that we do to delight ourselves in the Lord. Notice that the scripture indicates that when we do something, God does something. It is a promise with a condition. God gives us the desires of our heart, when we delight ourselves in him. It is in the position of delighting yourself in the Lord, that we give God access to our heart, to align our hearts desire with His.
Father, in Jesus’ name, I thank you that when I delight myself in you, that you give me the desires of my heart. Thank you for my desires being in accordance with your will and your word. I thank you in advance for the manifestation of my desires, regardless of whether they are spiritual, relational, or material desires. I give you the praise, honor, and the glory for it. Amen.
