Day 26: Lean On
“When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset.” Exodus 17:12 (NIV)
God uses our community to aid us when we grow weary. In the above scripture, if Moses was on his own he would have had to give up. He would have been unable to hold up his hands, and the Amalekites would have defeated the Israelites in battle. However, Moses had a great community–Aaron and Hur–who held up his hands until sunset. Because Moses had Aaron and Hur to lean on, the Israelites were able to defeat the Amalekites. Similarly, when we have a community to lean on, we can overcome insurmountable battles. You must recognize your need to lean on others when you are weak. You will be unable to win certain battles alone, but you will only be able to win them when you lean on others.
Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray that when I am weak I would have a community to lean on. I pray that you would minister to others to help me when I am struggling and in need of assistance. I thank you that they are swift to obey you when it comes to providing me aid and assistance. Amen.
